    This year marks the 75th edition of the NCAA Men's Basketball Tournament. The Final Four will be held at the Georgia Dome in Atlanta.

    March 28, 1977 — Al McGuire

    The Omni | Atlanta, Georgia

    Al McGuire’s Marquette Warriors needed a last-second shot off a full-court pass to get by UNC Charlotte in the Final Four before upending Dean Smith’s Tar Heels in the final. McGuire retired after the game.

    March 26, 1973 — Bill Walton

    St. Louis Arena | St. Louis, Missouri

    Bill Walton went 21-of-22 from the field, pulled down 13 rebounds, and scored 44 points in UCLA’s 87-66 victory over Memphis, giving the Bruins their 7th consecutive title.

    March 26, 1979 — Magic Johnson vs. Larry Bird

    Special Events Center | Salt Lake City, Utah

    Michigan State's Earvin "Magic" Johnson led the Spartans to a 75-64 victory in the final game over Indiana State and Larry Bird. NBA basketball would change for the better the very next season.

    April 1, 1985 — Villanova Wildcats

    Rupp Arena | Lexington, Kentucky

    No. 8 seed Villanova pulled the monumental upset, beating the Georgetown Hoyas 66-64. The Wildcats' shooting in the game (22-of-28, 78 percent from the field) remains a championship game record.

    April 4, 1983 — Lorenzo Charles

    The Pit | Albuquerque, New Mexico

    Tied 52-52, N.C. State – a No. 6 seed, playing powerhouse Houston with two future NBA stars in Akeem Olajuwon and Clyde Drexler – had a chance to pull off a huge upset, but Dereck Wittenburg was scrambling after a pass Drexler knocked away. With 3 seconds remaining and from 30 feet out, Wittenburg launched a shot that fell about a foot short. Cue teammate Lorenzo Charles, who caught the ball and dunked it in one motion, just before time expired.

    March 29, 1982 — Michael Jordan

    Louisiana Superdome | New Orleans, Louisiana

    Trailing by one, freshman sensation Michael Jordan knocked down a jumper from the left wing with 17 seconds left to give the Tar Heels a 63-62 victory over Georgetown.

    March 30, 1987 — Keith Smart

    Louisiana Superdome | New Orleans, Louisiana

    Keith Smart scored 12 of Indiana’s final 15 points, including a 16-foot jumper from the left side in the final seconds that capped a 74-73 win over Syracuse.

    March 19, 1981 — Danny Ainge

    The Omni | Atlanta, Georgia

    In the East Regional semifinals against Notre Dame, BYU's Danny Ainge took an in-bounds pass, dribbled behind his back between two defenders and streaked baseline-to-baseline to drop in a finger-roll lay-up with two seconds remaining. BYU won 50-49.

    March 23, 1974 — North Carolina State

    Greensboro Coliseum | Greensboro, North Carolina

    North Carolina State, behind AP player of the year David Thompson, officially ended the UCLA Bruins’ run of 7 straight championships with an 80-77 overtime win. The Wolfpack claimed the title with a win over Marquette two days later.
